Microneedling vs RF Microneedling
I have noticed a lot of misunderstanding about microneedling and RF microneedling in the office. I hope this newsletter will clarify the differences between the two. At office, the Secret Pro by Cutera is used, which is a medical-grade RF microneedling device. This device is not available to the general public and is only used by trained professionals.
It is important to note that RF microneedling is a minimally invasive procedure, but it is still a medical procedure.
Here are 3 main differences between microneedling and RF microneedling:

Depth of penetration: Microneedling uses a roller or pen with tiny needles that create micro-channels in the skin. The depth of penetration can be controlled, but it is typically limited to the upper layers of the skin. RF microneedling, on the other hand, uses radiofrequency energy to heat the skin from the inside out. This allows the needles to penetrate deeper into the skin, up to the dermis layer. The deeper penetration of RF microneedling can lead to more dramatic results, such as the reduction of deep wrinkles and scars. Injury to upper layers of the skin is minimal and well-controlled.

Speed of results: Microneedling can take several treatments to see results, while RF microneedling can often produce results in just one or two treatments. This is because RF microneedling can stimulate the production of collagen and elastin more effectively than microneedling alone.

The treatment is comfortable, and your provider will work with you to maintain your comfort level throughout the entire treatment. You can expect the treatment to take about 20 minutes.

A: Typically, there is no downtime after the treatment. Your skin will have moderate redness after the treatment, which will subside significantly within a few hours. A: Secret PRO Ultra-Light helps promote healthy skin and provides results for many common skin concerns, including; uneven skin tone and texture and overall complexion quality.
Q: What is the treatment like?
A: Before your treatment begins, a topical numbing cream will be applied to increase comfort. During the treatment, your provider will gently stamp the laser over the treatment area to create thousands of superficial microscopic perforations while leaving the surrounding tissue untouched. As the perforations heal, new cells appear, leaving your skin with a healthier and refreshed appearance. Depending on the size of the area being treated, the procedure usually lasts 15 to 30 minutes.
Q: Is there downtime after the treatment?
A: Immediately after the treatment, your skin will be pink, feel very warm, and be sensitive to the touch. Your provider will offer a post-treatment regimen following the treatment to optimize treatment results. The next day, you will notice a pattern forming over the treatment area from the microscopic perforations that will begin to scab and sluff off over the next few days. The exfoliation process typically lasts 3-4 days.
