PicoSure FAQ
Q: What is PicoSure?
A: PicoSure® is anti-aging solution and the world’s first and only picosecond aesthetic laser platform for multiple aesthetic applications including tattoo removal, acne scar treatment, removal of pigmented lesions and wrinkle treatment.

Q: How does it work?
A: Picosure laser technology delivers ultra-short pulse bursts of energy to the skin in trillionths of a second to gently target and eliminate pigment without harming the surrounding skin. Improve the look of your skin and achieve a more youthful appearance by removing pigment or treating wrinkles and acne scars faster than ever before with PicoSure.

Q: What should I do to prepare for the session?
Discontinue retinol containing products one week before the treatment. No scrubs or peels one week before as well.

Pigment & Wrinkle Reduction
Q: What causes unwanted pigment?
A: Pigmented lesions including sunspots, age spots, and brown patches, are dark in color because the melanin is concentrated in one area of the skin. Melanin gives us our skin color. Most pigmented lesions come from sun exposure while some patients are born with them. Hormonal changes can also induce pigment changes in the skin.

Q: What types of pigmented lesions can PicoSure remove?
A: Picosure can remove a variety of unwanted pigment. Age spots, freckles, and brown patches.

Q: How many treatment sessions will it take?
A: To improve the look of your skin and achieve a more youthful appearance by removing pigmented lesions will require only a few treatments. Darker, deeper and larger pigmented lesions may require additional treatments.
Q: What does the treatment feel like?
A: Most patients find the procedure tolerable and require no numbing cream or anesthesia. PicoSure delivers energy in ultra-short bursts, and patients often compare the laser pulse to a snap of a thin rubber band or sensation of the "lightening" on the skin.

Q: How does wrinkle reduction work?
A: With a unique combination of leading-edge technologies, laser light targets all three layers of photodamaged tissue, epidermal pigment, mid-dermal wrinkles, and deep-dermal laxity. Then the body’s natural healing process sweeps away older, damaged tissue and rebuilds it with fresh, new collagen and elastin—the crucial building blocks of youthful looking skin.

Q: How many treatments will I need to see in wrinkle improvement?
A: A series of 3-4 treatments are recommended. Treatment intervals are 4 weeks but can be up to 8 weeks for darker skin types. Please be patient results are not instant, you will start noticing changes in 2-3 weeks. Remember to stick to the recommendations in office suggested by the doctor. Your body need a substrate to build new collagen fibers, if you are drinking alcohol and eating carbohydrate rich foods there is nothing for the body to create the new fibers from and results will be insignificant.

A: Side effects include temporary redness and swelling at the treatment site that typically resolves in less than an hour but in some cases may linger for up to 24 hours. Its unusual if redness persists for longer than 24 hours, please contact the office 425-551-7573. There is 3-7 days downtime after brown spots removal.
